Waves of Knowing
Challenge
This project is set within the context of the sea, and shines a light on the devastating effects of plastics entering our waterways.
Behaviour Change
Taking Green Man Festival as a case study, a new reusable cup deposit scheme is proposed which aims to drastically reduce the amount of plastic waste produced at the festival. By implementing a monetary incentive, as well as reducing the 'collectible' nature of the Green Man cups, the scheme aims to illicit widespread behaviour change.
Disruptive Design
To shine a light on the problem of plastic, a physical installation is proposed, situated in the consumer-focussed location of a shopping centre. A regular recycling bin is modified to create a plastic 'tumble tower', engaging the public in a fun and interactive way. This then encourages people to scan the QR code and find out more about solutions to the global plastic pollution crisis.
