Challenge
The city of Cardiff requires a coherent place brand that is unique and identifiable, and that captures the essence of what the city means to people.
Solution
The Cardiff place brand is centred around a new app and website: cardiff.com/caerdydd.com. Taking inspiration from the Victorian motifs that can be seen throughout Cardiff, a visual language emerges from the simple shape of a quarter circle. This extends to pattern and iconography, and is used at varying scales as the identifiable visual thread running through the brand.
Result
A flexible brand is created that is distinctive and recognisable across a number of channels and audience sectors. It is a celebration of the multi-faceted and often contradictory nature of the city of Cardiff.
